What Are Carbohydrates?
Carbohydrates are the organic molecules which are majorly composed of carbon oxygen and hydrogen elements Carbohydrates are classified as macronutrients required by our body forgenerating energy We have to eat food to obtain themsince these are not produced in our body.
As per the National Institute of Health, to meet the daily requirement, an average-sized person can eat up to 135 gram of carbohydrates. But all of us should not follow it.It is because one needs to follow one’s own diet plan, and try to cut the amount of carbohydratesif one is already obese.
Use of Carbohydrates
To survive and stay alive,our body needs the energy.We get this energy mostly from carbohydrates proteins and fat. We need so much of carbohydrates daily in comparison with other nutrients since it is the main source of energy. The body of a person will convert the excess into fats when they eat more carbohydrate than their daily needs. The stored form of energy in our body is the fat which our body uses whenever needed.
Types of Carbohydrates
Many forms and types of carbohydrate are there but all of these forms can be categorised into two groups: simple carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates.
Simple Carbohydrates: Simple carbohydrates are generallyreceived from refined sugar, and are sometimes known as simple sugars. The white sugar is the source of simple carbohydratesthat people generally use for sweetening. Many fruits and vegetables also contain the simple sugars. Hence, for acquiring simple carbohydrates,eating these items is good in comparisonwith white sugar.
Complex Carbohydrates: Complexcarbohydrates aregenerally obtained from starchy food which entails bread and rice. Complex carbohydrates can be obtainedin a number of ways, e.g., pre-processed items like processed flour.However, processed food lacks some vitamins and minerals which are generallyfound in an unprocessed food item. To get the maximum benefit,it is better to take unprocessed flour and rice. It is better to take both types of carbohydrates in the dietfor a healthy lifestyle.
The key to losing weightis the cutting on a daily intake of carbohydrates;however, the diet should include some food items havingessential vitamins and minerals for our body to function in a propermanner.
Our body can produce energy by burning proteins when the body has less reserves of fatand there is an insufficient intake of carbohydrates.
Acertain type of carbohydrate helps the body in absorbing calcium minerals.
